The Lecht to Glenshee ski area, Scotland

By on July 29, 2006 in Scotland

The drive from The Lecht to Glenshee is fairly easy. Basically just head south for 33 miles towards Braemar (driving directions).

Glenshee is the closest ski area to Edinburgh, 84 miles (driving directions).

The ski area consists of a number of low wooden buildings, with the ski area split on either side of the road.  The area has the usual, that is, a ski hire area, a ski school and a cafe, which did a good carrot cake.  Looks like an interesting ski area, not overly challenging but interesting.

When I was there (please note, this was in the summer) one lift was open (£4.50 return adult; £3.50 return child), which runs from the Bottom Station (2,133 ft) to the Top Station at 2,933 ft.

The 100 mile drive back to Glasgow was uneventful (driving directions).
