Day 3: More on skiing Corvara (Alta Badia), Italy

By on February 5, 2007 in Italy

Another cracking day skiing Corvara (Alta Badia).  The weather was superb with clear blue skies and sunshine.  It was not early February skiing….

In fact, there was lots and lots of sunshine today, with temperatures around 5°C. A great day for taking photos.

The piste was in good condition, and the piste bashers had done an excellent job. The base was packed powder, but there seems to be a good covering of snow on top.

On my mammoth drive to Bolzano-Bozen last night (see earlier post) I spotted a lot of snow blowers on the go, and with temperatures overnight down to -9°C they were able to make plenty of snow.

Today, I finally spotted the piste signs. They are not obvious, and they don’t seem to match the numbering on the map.

Again, we had another great lunch up the mountain. There was a great choice of places to eat, and most of them seemed to do really good food, at surprisingly good prices.

We spent an easy afternoon skiing.  Up to the top of the main bubble (Boe) near the hotel (Ciasa De Munt), and skied back via a few bars.

We found a great little bar up the mountain near Crep De Mont and rounded off an excellent day of skiing with a beer at a bar near the Boe lift.

It appears that there is a lack of snow in Austria as we met a bunch of people that were shipped in from an Austrian resort.

So far I have been unable to find any real nightlife in Corvara.

Hotel: There is a general lack of plug sockets in the rooms and the hotel.  One in the bathroom, one in the bedroom area – with a camera, laptop, walkie-talkies and phone to charge, this is not enough…
