Second trip to the shops and dinner….

By on February 9, 2013 in Malaysia

Made my 2nd trip into the shops today.

First I visited a shopping mall in the centre of Johor looking for some “techy stuff”. The journey was a waste of time as most of the “techie stores” were closed as it is the Chinese New Year celebrations.

I did manage to take back the kettle and get a replacement. It turns out that it was my fault that I went home with a broken kettle as all electrical goods should have been tested before they left the store. That is, I was supposed to go up to a counter and asked them to check the kettle. I played the dumb foreigner card (something which I seem to be doing a lot recently) and managed to get a replacement.

Also had my first encounter with an “auto pay” car park system. Maybe right hash of it and had to be bailed out by the woman behind me in the queue.

In the evening I went to Riverwalk Tandoor Restoran Nusajaya, No 2 Jalan Nip, Nusajaya, Johor – a place I visited on my last trip. Had a fantastic fish tikka masala dish. The restaurant was really busy and full of families sitting down and enjoying their evening meal.

Yum! Fish tikka masala

One other highlight of the day was visiting a local petrol station to fill the car. The highlight for me was that the total cost for three quarters of a tank of petrol was only £6 ($9).
