Gelang Petah – first impressions….

By on March 2, 2013 in Malaysia

The nearest town where I live is called Gelang Patah.

It is a relatively small town, as far as I can tell, and the centre consists of a main road with two blocks of shops on either side that are set quite far back (i.e. there is another road between the shops and the main busy road). This evening I decided to explore it, and have dinner in the town.

Gelang Petah is a crazy little town! Very busy with people everywhere and lots of small shops selling pretty much everything. Clothes, hardware, you name it. There must be at least 4 phone shops, if not more. There is also a plethora of places to get motorbikes and cars fixed.
Plus lots and lots of restaurants – Malaysian, Indian, Chinese – and a lot of street vendor stalls also selling food.

On my next visit I will try to get some photos…
