By on May 10, 2013 in Malaysia

I saw this stunning moth today…

Atlas Moth (Attacus atlas)

Atlas Moth (Attacus atlas)

The moth had a wing span of around 15 cm and what was particularly striking, apart from the size and colour, were the two false snake heads on the tips of the wings.

The identity of the moth was confirmed over at iSpot.

Update: Four people over at iSpot agree with the identification of this moth as Atlas Moth (Attacus atlas).
