Dinner at the Fatty Crab, No. 2 Jalan SS 24/13, Taman Megah, 47301, Petaling Jaya, Selangor

This evening I was taken to the Fatty Crab, No. 2 Jalan SS 24/13, Taman Megah, 47301, Petaling Jaya, Selangor (see map below) for an excellent meal.

The first sign that it was going to be good was the fact that we had to wait for a table!

The only cutlery we were given was a hammer and a pair of crackers for the crab. The lack of cutlery was worrying as it meant I was going to have to use my fingers for eating…

Post-meal debris…

Post-meal debris…

At the end of the meal there was debris all over the table, but most if it seemed to be in front of me.

The crab was delicious, and I had survived (or so I thought) the process of eating such a meal with my fingers. I did notice, however, that I appeared to have crab and rice all over my right hand, up to about my wrist, whereas my Malaysian friends, only seemed to have sauce up to the second knuckle on their fingers. They were much more skilled at each such a dish with just their fingers.

Later that evening, when I was back at the hotel, I discovered that I hadn’t survived the meal as my inability not to get crab all over my hand meant that I had got chilli sauce between my fingers, and even though I had washed my hand straight after the meal, boy did it burn!

Verdict: Chilli crab at Fatty Crab is great, but if you are not used to eating with your fingers watch out for the chilli burn!!
