SNAKE!!!! This time in the ROOM!

By on October 18, 2013 in Malaysia

This morning I walked into a room and saw what I thought was a centipede on the floor… Admittedly a rather large one at about 8 cm long, and 0.2 cm wide, but it looked, at first glance, a centipede.

However, when I went to pick it up, it moved away like a snake…

I finally was able to catch it, by dropping a dish on it, and get it under a microscope (I always keep one handy). It was definitely a snake, as it had scales, but the head was odd as it didn’t appear to have a mouth or defined eyes.

I sent my images over to ispot, and they came with an identification of Rhamphotyphlops braminus which is more commonly called a Flowerpot Snake, a Brahminy Blindsnake, or a Bootlace Snake.
