Getting Skis And A Lift Pass, St Anton, Austria

By on March 3, 2014 in Austria

An interesting start to the skiing in St Anton, the ski shop had no skis in my size.

I ski on a 165 cm ski (sometimes a little longer, sometimes a little shorter, it all depends on the style of ski) and I went in to three different ski shops and all they could offer me were a couple of pairs to choose from (and in one case it wasn’t even a pair!). When I asked why they had so few skis they pointed to a pile of skis in the corner waiting to be serviced. It appears that a lot of skis had been returned that evening after a week of use. That is, ‘change over day’ is Sunday and most skiers return their skis on Saturday evening before departure on the Sunday.

The line for the ski pass wasn’t too bad, but having an extra person on (there was only one window open) would have helped.
