A quick visit to the UK… for a wedding – Christchurch, UK

By on June 1, 2014 in UK

Just made a quick weekend visit to the UK to attend a wedding – I must be mad, over 40 hours of travelling for around 40 hours in the UK.

However, it was good to be back, if only for a short time.

Oh, the delights... a UK train!

Oh UK chocolate, how I have missed you...

In Malaysia, the Cadbury chocolate has something in it (wax?) to stop it turning in to chocolate milk. As a result, it doesn’t taste the same as the chocolate from the UK.

Oh British beer and crisps, how I have missed you...

The crisps in Malaysia don’t taste the same, and even though you can get UK beer out there (in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur) it doesn’t taste the same due to the distance it has been shipped and the temperature you are drinking it in. British beer doesn’t taste right in a hot climate.

I had not been to Christchurch before…

The whole ‘beach-culture’ was fascinating.

One thing of particular interest was the ‘beach-hut’ scene. The stretch of coast from Mudeford Harbour to Highcliffe had some great beach huts.

Above the beach was an abandoned military research facility that was used in the development of radar. All that remains now are the concrete foundations of the masts and dishes.
