Day 6: Last day of skiing – Solitude and/or Brighton? Or somewhere else?

By on February 19, 2015 in USA

Where to ski on the last day….? Let’s look at the choices:

Park City Ski Area: We skied Park City on the first day, and we feel we didn’t do it justice. However, the weather has been so warm, and the snow cover at Park City was so thin on Saturday, that we are now worried that conditions there may be poor. Hence Park City is a no.

The Canyons: We skied Canyons for two days and had a great time. We have covered most of the mountain, and going back could be a safe bet, but we could try somewhere else. We may be missing a local gem of a ski area…

Deer Valley: No. Not an option. Very costly and even though we had some great skiing we didn’t really like the place.

Alta/Snowbird: Snowbird and Alta were great. And I would love to go back. However, there are some other places we haven’t tried….

Snow Basin: This was a new one to me, and we were told about it by a guy we met at Red Banjo Pizza… Apparently, it is over an hour from Park City. Could be an option….

Solitude and/or Brighton: Two areas that we haven’t tried, and they appear to be linked. The ski areas are about 40 minutes drive from Park City and have been described as similar to, or better than, Alta and Snowbird.

We have decided to ski Solitude and/or Brighton.
