Summary of the my Sibu, Sarawak, Malaysia trip

By on March 15, 2015 in Malaysia

I enjoyed being back in Sibu.

I had correctly remembered how good the night market was, and it still was – a classic example of a Malaysian night market. What I had forgotten was the brilliant day/covered market. Fantastic.

It was good to go back and check out the Chinese temple again. It is certainly worth a look.

The river was still very busy and it was good to see the bullet boats zipping around – they are fast. The colourful ‘goods’ transport barges were still around. One new thing I saw were private speed boats blasting around carrying passengers. These small speed boats seem to be very fast, even faster than the bullet boats. Impressive.

The RH Hotel still serves a very poor breakfast, and the WiFi was still very flakey and slow (so, it’s not just the night market that hadn’t changed). The rooms were OK, clean and tidy, but it is slightly worrying how grey the white towels were in the bathrooms.
