Road trip to Malacca – Da Som Inn Hotel, Malacca, Malaysia

By on June 12, 2015 in Malaysia

I have lived in Malaysia for over 2 years and in all that time I have not managed to get to Malacca, which is only a few hours up the road.

Malacca (Malay: Melaka) has an interesting history, and is connected to the founding of Singapore, and also the history of Penang. Basically, it all comes down to spices, ships, ports and trade. You can get a pretty good history over on Wikipedia.

In Malacca I stayed in the Da Som Inn Hotel, 28 Jalan Tukang Emas 75200, Malacca, Melaka, Malaysia, which is right in the centre of the old part of town, in fact, it was ideally situated to explore the city.

The hotel was cheap, and my room was very pleasant with a comfortable bed and a good shower. I was slightly worried when I arrived and walked down to my room and saw a large rat vanish down a drain.
