Temple Street Night Market 廟街夜市場, Hong Kong

By on September 4, 2015 in Hong Kong

I like a good night market and as I had heard good things about the Temple Street Night Market 廟街夜市場 I was really looking forward to my visit. I was disappointed as I found it to be remarkably similar to the Ladies’ Market 女人街. That is, it was full of stalls selling clothes, bags, beads, suitcase, phone covers, T-shirts, shoes, household odds and ends, and stuffed toys. In fact, pretty much anything except for food and furniture. The lack of food was particularly annoying as I was planning on tucking into local street food for my evening meal.

I have since been told by a local that I was on the wrong street and that the real night market has a lot of vendors selling street food. I found this news slightly odd as I was on Temple Street. Has the Temple Street Night Market 廟街夜市場 moved to a new street?

These shots may look similar to those I took at the Ladies’ Market 女人街, but I can assure you it is a different market.

So, I was disappointed with the Temple Street Night Market 廟街夜市場, and decided to head off to catch the evening light show at the harbour.
