Stanley Market 赤柱市集, Hong Kong

By on September 5, 2015 in Hong Kong

Stanley Market 赤柱市集 has lots of small shops selling odds and ends, clothing, souvenirs, etc. and is renowned in Hong Kong as the tourist destination for bargain hunters. Personally, I couldn’t see the attraction, and I couldn’t find any deals.

One good thing about the market was that it was quite cool as the shop awnings stretched from one side of the alleyway to meet the awning of the shop opposite, this meant that with each shop blasting out conditioned air that the whole area felt cool with a sort of communal air con going on.

As ever, there were a lot of shops selling T-shirts.

There is a mixture of shops and stalls in the market.

The walkway between the stalls is quite narrow in places.

The bead shops were interesting, and I guess these are available to be made up into necklaces?

I wonder why the shops selling art didn’t allow photographs?

Overall I was not that impressed with Stanley Market 赤柱市集 as I thought it was the market in Hong Kong for bargains, and yet I couldn’t see any deals to be had.  Maybe I wasn’t looking hard enough, or I need to develop my haggling skills?
