30-4 Park, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam

By on September 13, 2015 in Vietnam

30-4 Park was an interesting place. As far as I can tell it is just called 30-4 Park. That just seems to be a really odd name. Does it have some meaning from history that I’m not understanding?

30-4 Park seems to be the place for young people to hang out on a Sunday morning.  The park is very close to Nhà Thờ Đức Bà Sài Gòn (Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica) and the Bưu Điện Sài Gòn (Saigon Central Post Office). There were lots of young couples about. Some in bands, some just sitting with friends having a cold drink and eating snacks. And there was also a rather interesting use of newspapers to make little “picnic rugs” on the ground.

If you are in HCMC on a Sunday morning and you are near Nhà Thờ Đức Bà Sài Gòn (Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica) then I would really recommend that you pop along to 30-4 Park to see the residents of HCMC at play, and relaxing.  If you are a ‘people watcher’, or a street photographer, then it is a really good place for watching and taking some candid photographs.
