Day 5: Skiing Alta, Utah

By on February 19, 2015 in USA

Alta is right next door to Snowbird and the two are linked by a mountain pass.

We drove to Snowbird, about 9 miles from Park City, but it will take you around 45 minutes to drive there as by road it is around 40 miles. We parked, and then bought the pass that covers both ski areas, and headed to the cross-over point.

Wow! My kind of ski area

There was just something about Alta that clicked with us. The lifts weren’t great, but the snow was fantastic. Was is it the skiing with the trees by the side of the trail, or the fact that we were in a large bowl surrounded by mountains, and not perched on top of a mountain as in Deer Valley? I don’t know. There was just something about the place that resonated with us.

One thing to keep in mind – Alta, unlike Snowbird, does not allow snow boarders.
