Eastin Hotel, Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia

By on March 23, 2015 in Malaysia

I stayed at the Eastin Hotel in Penang, Malaysia, for three days and it turned out to be a very nice hotel, in a very odd location.

The hotel is too far from the centre of George Town to be a tourist hotel, and too far from the airport to be an airport hotel, and there is nothing nearby of interest. However, they must be doing something right as the hotel was very busy.

The rooms were very nice and perfectly functional, the shower in my room was slightly eccentric in the way it sprayed water almost randomly around the cubicle, the staff were helpful (TV in my room wasn’t working when I arrived, and they had it fixed in no time) and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel also had pretty good WiFi in the room, not the fastest, but it worked, and the rooms were also a ‘hardwired’ to the network which was a bit quicker than the WiFi.

The breakfast had a stunning range of food choices with something for everyone – truly excellent… Above is my Nasi Lemak, Pao bun, and dim sum combo (I do like to mix things up).

The photo above was the view from my room – in front of the hotel was the main road up to George Town, and although it is very close, I could hardly hear it in my room.
