Heading to the airport at 5 am in Yangon (Rangoon), Myanmar (Burma)

By on April 4, 2015 in Myanmar/Burma

Far, far too early to be up and about. And far, far too early to be in a taxi going through Yangon (Rangoon), Myanmar (Burma).

However, it is interesting to be up this early and to see the city waking up (or possibly just going to bed).

Surprising number of people on the streets exercising. Mainly older folks, and there are even some monks doing their early morning workout routines.

Bike couriers on the move. Food stalls open. Temples open.

No cars! Odd that. The city is usually so busy.

Lit pagodas against the dark morning sky stunning.

Surprisingly cool temperature.

US$15 to airport. Ride took 25 minutes. Had planned for just over an hour (that is what the guy on the front desk suggested). Guess I will have time to kill at the airport.
