U Bein Bridge – ဦးပိန် တံတား Temple, Mandalay, Myanmar (Burma)

By on March 21, 2017 in Myanmar/Burma

This was my second visit to Mandalay (see Mandalay 2015), and on my last trip I had heard of the U Bein Bridge – ဦးပိန် တံတား –  and unfortunately I had not had time to visit it. However, on this trip, I had a spare evening, and so I decided to hire a local cab and visit the bridge.

As part of the “taxi tour”, I also visited a Stone carving in Mandalay, Myanmar (Burma), the Mahamuni Buddha Temple (Mahar Myat Mu ‘Ne’ Pagoda) – မဟာမုနိဘုရားကြီး and the Pahtodawgyi Pagoda. All of which, in my opinion, were worth a visit.

At U Bein Bridge – ဦးပိန် တံတား –  we parked in a car park beside a small temple. Being a “sucker for temples”, I had to go have a look.

Although the temple was not as good, or as large, as the Mahamuni Buddha Temple (Mahar Myat Mu ‘Ne’ Pagoda) – မဟာမုနိဘုရားကြီး – temple I felt that it was still worth a quick look. Again, the temple had a very ornate entrance and walkway to the main temple building, and inside the building, there was a large statue of the Buddha. Even with such a small temple, I was still very impressed with the level of artistry and design. It was a beautiful looking building.

From the temple, I walked to the U Bein Bridge – ဦးပိန် တံတား –  via a small market.
