Bali — Photos of the people of Bali, Indonesia
People watching in Bali
September 2015
Besides the beautiful lush green countryside, magnificent views, and stunning temples, Bali is also full of fascinating characters. Below is a collection of photos of people I took on my travels around the island.
This first character was interesting, and I encountered him at the Tegallalang Rice Terraces. I thought he was a local farmer sitting there resting, so I snapped this photo (using quite a long lens). He spotted me (as seen by the wave) and demanded money once I had taken the picture. I watched him for some time after I took my photo, and he did the same with several other tourists. Oh, and yes, I did pay him.
This character at the Cremation Ceremony at Penebel Kaja caught my eye as this was his daily dress, and I loved how the hat coordinated with the Sarong.
Not everyone in Bali wears the traditional dress.
Below are temple workers at Tanah Lot.
And a local taxi driver waiting for his fare to return.
And, of course, nearly everywhere you go in Bali, you will bump into tourists doing the rounds.
