Cambodia — Day 2: Banteay Samré (បន្ទាយសំរែ), Angkor Archaeological Park, Angkor, Cambodia — part 1 of 2
Day 2, temple 2 of the day
September 2015
From Banteay Samré (បន្ទាយសំរែ)) it was about a 20–30-minute drive to Banteay Samré (បន្ទាយសំរែ).
Banteay Samré (បន្ទាយសំរែ) was, like Angkor Wat (អង្គរវត្ត), built in the Angkorian period — the 12th century — around 1110 to 1150.
I spent a little over an hour exploring Banteay Samré (បន្ទាយសំរែ), and it was one of my favourite temples of the trip because it was less crowded; there were very few sellers around, and the temple complex was remarkable.
The reason the temple was so quiet was that I had left Banteay Srei Temple (ប្រាសាទបន្ទាយស្រី) early, and I had beaten the other tourists to the site.
Note the lack of people in the photos below.
