Cambodia — Wat Dam Nak (Wat Damnak; ព្រះដំណាក់), High School Road (cor Wat Bo Road), Siem Reap, Cambodia
Is it Wat Damnak or Wat Dam Nak?
September 2015
As I continued my wander around Siem Reap, I came across the Wat Dam Nak or Wat Damnak Temple (ព្រះដំណាក់).
The Wat Dam Nak (Wat Damnak; ព្រះដំណាក់) Temple is a Buddhist pagoda, and as I had the time, I had a brief look around the grounds.
By Cambodian standards, the Wat Dam Nak (Wat Damnak; ព្រះដំណាក់) Temple is a baby because it only became a temple in 1927 and before that, from 1904, it was a royal residence. Why a baby? Well, most of the temples I had visited in Cambodia were 800 to 1000 years old. At less than 100 years, Wat Dam Nak (Wat Damnak; ព្រះដំណាក់) was a baby, possibly a toddler.
Walking around the temple complex, it was good to see that the level of craftsmanship was comparable with the other older temples I had visited — but with modern materials and building techniques.

As I was leaving, a flower someone had paced in the gnarled roots of a tree caught my eye.
It was interesting to visit Wat Dam Nak (Wat Damnak; ព្រះដំណាក់) as I had spent the last two days looking at the ruins and remains of old temples in the Angkor Archaeological Park. Visiting somewhere still in use and part of daily life in Siem Reap was nice.
