Hong Kong — Reunification Monument, Hong Kong
An odd place in Hong Kong
September 2015
Reunification Monument is a rather odd place in Hong Kong as it seems almost hidden away, yet it has great historical significance.
Behind the Hong Kong Exhibition Centre on the Expo Promenade are the Reunification Monument and the Golden Bauhinia.
The "Forever Blooming Bauhinia Sculpture” gives the Promenade its other often-used name — Golden Bauhinia Square.
The “Forever Blooming Bauhinia Sculpture” was a gift from the Central Government of China to mark the handover of Hong Kong to China in 1997.
There is also an obelisk on the site commemorating the handover in 1997.
The Promenade is also used as a place to walk, admire the views across the harbour, and a place to fish.
