Hong Kong — Yuen Po Street Bird Garden 園圃街雀鳥花園, Hong Kong
Visiting a bird market in Hong Kong
September 2015
Just around the corner from the Mongkok Flower Market 旺角花墟, I found the Yuen Po Street Bird Garden 園圃街雀鳥花園, which was a local market for selling caged birds. I had never seen so many caged birds. And the street was excessively noisy with bird songs, squawks, and cheeps. It was also a bit smelly, with a subtle aroma of a bird colony.
The cages and the array of birds on display were spectacular.
The main section of the Yuen Po Street Bird Garden 園圃街雀鳥花園 was quite crowded and cluttered with stalls, and this chaos lent to the atmosphere of the market.
So many birds.
And so many cages.
The Yuen Po Street Bird Garden 園圃街雀鳥花園 was small, but it packed in a lot in a small place. It is worth visiting if you are going to see the Mongkok Flower Market 旺角花墟, which is almost next door.
