Part 2 of exploring Luang Prabang (ຫລວງພະບາງ/ຫຼວງພະບາງ)
September 2015
I continued exploring Luang Prabang (ຫລວງພະບາງ/ຫຼວງພະບາງ), Laos.
I am unsure what is happening in the next photo, but I suspect it is a small shrine with some offerings.
Again, empty streets. Where was everyone?
I was beginning to find the empty streets of Luang Prabang (ຫລວງພະບາງ/ຫຼວງພະບາງ), Laos, worrying. It was so quiet.
The rhythmic 4:00 pm drumming of the Wat Sene drums. I guess I can tick that one off my list of things to do in Luang Prabang (ຫລວງພະບາງ/ຫຼວງພະບາງ), Laos.
Many of the houses in Luang Prabang (ຫລວງພະບາງ/ຫຼວງພະບາງ), Laos, had a French feel, which is unsurprising as Laos was part of French Indochina (Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam), a French dependency from 1862 to 1954.
And the views of the Mekong River from Luang Prabang (ຫລວງພະບາງ/ຫຼວງພະບາງ) are stunning.
And just as anywhere in Southeast Asia, there are Tuk Tuks, but unlike in Cambodia, I was not asked every 5 minutes if I needed a Tuk Tuk.
Finally, after a hot afternoon wandering around the quiet and picturesque Luang Prabang (ຫລວງພະບາງ/ຫຼວງພະບາງ), I stopped for a cold beer at a terrace bar down by the Mekong River and watched the sunset.
I enjoyed my time exploring Luang Prabang (ຫລວງພະບາງ/ຫຼວງພະບາງ), Laos. However, I was looking forward to leaving the town and visiting the nearby countryside.
