Laos — Le Bel Air Resort, 1 Old Bridge, Luang Prabang (ຫລວງພະບາງ/ຫຼວງພະບາງ), Laos
My base for five days
September 2015
I booked into the Le Bel Air Resort, 1 Old Bridge, Luang Prabang (ຫລວງພະບາງ/ຫຼວງພະບາງ), for my stay in Luang Prabang (ຫລວງພະບາງ/ຫຼວງພະບາງ), Laos.
Checking was fine; no issues. The hotel needs a little TLC, with the lights in my room being particularly bad. The AC was good, and the bed was very comfortable. I slept well, despite the hotel being under the airport flight path. The Wi-Fi was shockingly slow.
Breakfast was a bit of a fiasco. The toasters didn’t work. There were no bowls. The tea was good (essential for a Brit), and while I was waiting for the toaster, the waiter cleared my table. There were countless ants on my table.
I returned around 1 pm on the first day in Luang Prabang (ຫລວງພະບາງ/ຫຼວງພະບາງ), Laos, to cool off in my room and discovered no electricity at the hotel.
On the second day, I was having a relaxed breakfast, with the only sound being the clunk-clunk of motorbikes going over wooden boards on the Old Bridge when the staff turned on the Euro-pop music. Why?
Towards the end of my stay, I got the feeling I was one of only a few guests as for two days, I was one of three for breakfast, and I didn't see any other guests around during the day. This made for a very quiet stay, but it was a little eerie.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay. The hotel was in a good location, with delightful views of the Old Bridge. It was an easy walk into town.
