Malaysia — Kuching — Colonial Buildings of Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia
Exploring Kuching
June 2015
Kuching has some interesting old buildings.
Some buildings, such as the General Post Office, the Old Court House, and the Fort, date back to colonial times and the period of Sir James Brooke (the first White Rajah of Sarawak) and Charles Brooke, the second Rajah of Sarawak.
The General Post Office is an impressive building.
As is the Old Court House, with its monument to Charles Brooke, Rajah of Sarawak, outside.
“Charles Brooke G.C.M.G
2nd Rajah of Sarawak
Born 3rd June 1829
Entered the Sarawak Service 21st May 1852
Proclaimed Rajah 30 August 18??
Died 17th May 1917”
If you are wondering about the G.C.M.G, it is the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George (GCMG).
