On one of my evenings out wandering around Yangon, I came across a very odd scene in the middle of a closed-off street.

I was not at all sure what was going on.

At one end of the street, there was a stage.

A little odd, maybe, but then I noticed the carpeting.

The carpeting almost ran the entire length of the street.

All a bit odd.

Why was the street carpeted? What was going on? A wedding?
