Thailand — Bamboo House, Vietnam Road, Muang Kanchanaburi, Changwat Kanchanaburi, Thailand
My base for the night
September 2015
My base for a couple of nights while visiting “The Bridge on the River Kwai (สะพานข้ามแม่น้ำแคว)” was the Bamboo House, Vietnam Road, Muang Kanchanaburi, Changwat Kanchanaburi, Thailand.
The Bamboo House was near where the now-demolished wooden maintenance bridge crossed the river.
It was an interesting place. My room was very clean and perfectly functional. There were no English channels on the television. The room had a small fridge. There was reasonable Wi-Fi, good download speed, and poor upload speed.
One odd thing was that the base of the bed was concrete. I don’t mean I was sleeping on the floor; the raised base was a big concrete slab. Apart from the train in Vietnam, this was the most uncomfortable bed I had on the trip.
Breakfast was at the restaurant on site. It was a simple breakfast of coffee for tea, toast, juice, and eggs.
The Bamboo House was in a beautiful setting on the river. It was so quiet in the morning. Lovely.
