Toast and hotels

Just a little bit of toast

I like toast — there, I've said it.

I am a great toast fan, and toasted is probably the predominant way I eat bread. Cheese on toast, marmalade on toast, jam on toast, beans on toast, poached egg on toast, marmite on toast, and sometimes just plain toast. (And yes, I like the song — Just a little bit of toast.).

Now, toast is easy to make — you take some bread, put it under a grill or in a toaster, and toast it until it is a lovely shade of golden brown with the slightest hint of black. Lovely. Oh, and you have to use butter; it’s just not the same with margarine.

So, why, oh why, in all my travels, have I yet to come across a hotel that can make toast?
